Delivering a high-quality video experience to edge and hospitality sites can be a challenge. Fast-changing technology leave operators with the job to deliver both to the newest end devices, and well as to aging and inflexible platforms. This can leave operators with limited ability to cope with increasingly complex delivery networks. Especially when considering the myriad of legacy customer premise equipment (CPE) types that must still be served.

For many years, video operators across the globe have relied on the Tangram High-Density Video Platform to help deal with these complex delivery requirements. This flexible 1RU platform is best suited for edge network deployments and allows operators to customize module configurations to perform various functions as needed per application.

Now, WISI has launched 3 new modules to help elevate edge capabilities even further.

Ground-Breaking Flexibility

The new GT2000 Universal IP to Edge Module is truly revolutionary to the telecommunications industry, enabling operators to move away from single use technology and launch a flexible solution that changes functionality with easy software upgrades.

Staying ahead of the changes in technology, coupled with changes in customer expectations, can be a daunting task, especially given that it is often uneconomical to change out headend technology with every upgrade.  Indeed, what is labelled state-of-the-art this week will be considered legacy equipment, or perhaps even obsolete, in a few short years.

With this cutting-edge new module, video operators can gain much longer use out of their video equipment by repurposing instead of replacing when a new solution is required. This enables operators to cut down on physical truck rolls and waste, while reducing capital overhead and operational costs.

Another benefit is the ability to upgrade from using hybrid fiber-coaxial delivery of video QAMs to an IP transport solution, enabling operators to reduce video bandwidth usage and focus on upselling data services to subscribers.

Local Content Matters

Video operators routinely provide edge sites, such as hotels, hospitals, apartments, sports venues and MDUs, with the ability to add local programming to linear QAM or multiscreen video services.

WISI has introduced two new encoder modules for the Tangram Video Platform. The new GT35 HDMI and GT36 SDI/AV encoder modules allow operators to easily add local content to TV line-ups at hospitality and edge locations, without requiring additional equipment.

Now, operators can easily insert local content, such as hotel information channels, security footage and PEG channels, using the same platform used for QAM or Analog modulation. This greatly simplifies management and ongoing maintenance. Tangram’s variety of input and output options means that operators can seamlessly integrate between the format of local content and the video services provided to customers.

WISI Listens

Upgrading and modernizing video networks at edge and hospitality sites involves considering of a host of factors.  Because of the difficulty in predicting how technology and customer expectations may change over time, great care must be taken to install a flexible, future-proof platform.

We have been listening to our loyal customers when it comes to delivery to edge networks and hospitality systems. WISI continues to invest in the Tangram High-Density Video Platform, to make it the most flexible carrier-grade video edge solution in the market.
