  • Continue to secure end-to-end protection of content with ABR bulk decryption capabilities.
  • Launch a trusted video platform used worldwide by customers such as Cox, RCN and MVS.
  • Provide synchronised screens from ABR sources in venues such as sports bars and stadiums.

What is ABR Reception?

Video operators provide business customers such as hospitality networks and MDUs with pay-TV services in parallel to residential TV services. While operators are migrating their residential networks to multiscreen ABR, they are retaining linear QAM-based video services for business accounts, resulting in unnecessary duplication and significant operational costs.

The cost of replacing legacy set-top boxes at hospitality sites is high and a large percentage of these boxes are still in use. For these reasons, operators plan to continue supporting linear QAM transmission for the foreseeable future.

To help operators support existing hospitality networks, WISI has created a way to reuse multiscreen video streams for legacy deployments. This avoids duplication of effort. The same ABR video streams used for residential and over-the-top deployments can also be utilised for edge deployments.
