Vancouver, CANADA, November 12th, 2014 \u2013 <\/strong>Inca Networks  announced today that Midwest Video Solutions has selected Inca\u2019s high density MPEG-4 HD\/SD IPTV transcoder and receiver, the 4430 Modular Series, to expand the services it provides to its consortium of 25 independent telephone companies in Wisconsin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Midwest Video Solutions provides centrally managed HD and SD IPTV channels to their 25 member companies over a dedicated regional fiber network. Signals originate at five different off-air broadcast channel sites along with the main satellite headend location, and are a mixture of 8VSB off-air and satellite sources. The company has chosen Inca\u2019s MPEG-4 IPTV transcoders, 8VSB receiver modules, and VidiOS\u2122 software for receiving, de-muxing, transcoding and monitoring signals at their multiple IPTV sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have a mixture of video delivery equipment deployed at each of our individual off-air broadcast headend locations and that equipment is becoming outdated and challenging to manage. We chose the Inca reception and transcoder architecture; it has integrated seamlessly with the various set top box, encryption and software platforms our members use. Inca will allow us to reduce our footprint and expenses, and the 4400 Modular series gives us the flexibility to expand in the future with the addition of new multi-screen transcoding, ASI or off-air modules,\u201d says Marty Snustead, Executive Director of Midwest Video Solutions. \u201cThe combination of features, affordability, and ease of use represents good value in the video equipment market.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like all Inca products, the 4400 modular series includes VidiOS\u2122<\/a>, Inca\u2019s advanced processing and monitoring engine that provides active stream tools and integrated visual status monitoring \u2013 helping video engineers manage the headend more efficiently. Unique in the video equipment business, with Inca\u2019s VidiOS\u2122 it is like getting free status monitoring in every product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another feature that was key to Midwest\u2019s decision to implement Inca\u2019s video delivery equipment is the forthcoming adaptive bit-rate (ABR) transcoding capabilities of the Inca 4400 transcoder module. ABR (also known as HLS) and linear transcoder functions can co-exist in the same chassis, allowing customers to leverage their investment by easily adding low cost modules as their linear and multi-screen services expand. This gives operators maximum flexibility in an evolving video market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
